God’s Work. Our hands.

The month of November is for serving others!

Gather your family and friends to reach out to those in need.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Make and deliver cards to local assisted living or nursing homes. Veterans Day is a special holiday for many of our elderly.

2. Take a trip to Detroit and visit Capuchin on the Rise Bakery. Support their ministry by buying the delicious baked goods.

3. Deliver non-perishable food to a local food pantry. Some nearby options:

  • Samaritan House: 62324 Van Dyke, Washington 48094. 586-336-9956 samaritanhouse@sbcglobal.net

  • St. Paul of Tarsus: 41300 Romeo Plank Rd., Clinton Township 48038

  • Epic Church: 47488 Dequindre Rd., Shelby Twp. 48317 248-606-4348

4. Make Plarning Mats at SS John & Paul Church: 7777 28 Mile Rd, Washington 48094

586-781-9010 https://ssjohnandpaul.org. These mats are made from recycled plastic bags and are donated to local homeless residents. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 1-3. Contact Sue Shepherd if you have any questions: 586-322-4277.

5. Volunteer at Motown Soup. This can be done individually or in groups. Soup assembly occurs at Trinity Lutheran in Utica. Go to motownsoup.com and hit the volunteer tab. Go directly to volunteer@motownsoup.com or call 586-994-9012. Contact Mike Bartolino if you have any questions: 586-344-2794.

6. Get a group of friends or family together to volunteer at Gleaners Food Bank. Sign up for opportunities at https://gcfb.org

7. Attend a benefit for worthy local organization. Grace Centers of Hope is sponsoring a virtual event on Thursday, November 18th, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. This will support the children’s programs at Grace Centers. Online registration at gracecentersofhope.org or call 248-334-2187. Tickets are free but they are grateful for donations.

8. Make blessing bags to keep in your car to hand out to someone in need. We have extra empty bags available for pick up at Kok. Examples of items to fill them are socks, granola bars, fast food gift cards, gloves, a rain poncho, etc.

9. Sign up for the Kok Meal Train and volunteer to show God’s Love by preparing a meal for a member of our church family in need of care. Contact Karen Struck to sign up: kklein039@gmail.com, or look for the King of kings Meal Ministry group on Facebook.
